Mojácar is a Moorish fortress town on the southwest of Spain's coast that has become one of the largest resorts of Costa Almeria. Mojácar is known for its natural beauty, attractive beaches and its rugged charisma. Despite the large number of tourists to the area, the town has managed to keep its original identity.
There are many secluded coves along the front, the busier areas have been developed to serve the many guests who are attracted to Mojacar every year. A defensive fortress from the 18th century known as the Macenas Tower acts as the gateway separating the main beach area from the beaches reserved for naturalism.
The town has two parts to it; Mojácar Pueblo is the old town while Mojácar Playa is the new part of town two kilometres away (easily accessible by the local bus between the two parts) and is the real tourist destination due to its long stretches of beautiful golden sand beaches. Of the 17km beaches of Mojácar Playa, only 7km have been developed and have been given the European Blue Flag award for cleanliness. Several watersports are available to participate in such as jet skiing, water skiing, sailing and windsurfing. Other sports close by are paragliding, hiking, rock climbing and biking. Golf is also available at the 18-hole course Marina de la Torre close to the sea and against the mountainside.
The beach resort has seen a lot of development over the past twenty years and is now quite lively with a large variety of restaurants, bars, shops and other tourist attractions and services. The Parque Commercial is a shopping centre with even more of a variety of shops and restaurants; a wonderful place for anyone wishing to shop.

Water sports
There are a range of watersports you may want to experience while in Mojacar such as windsurfing, kite flying, scuba diving, Dinghy sailing and water skiing.

If water sports are not your thing, why not give flying ago? There are a selection of different flights you can take up such as pleasure flights, trial lessons and flying lessons. They even offer a photography flight for those who have an interest in photography.
Golf
There are currently 10 courses on offer around the area of Mojacar. The closest is the Playa Macenas Beach course has been designed just like a huge garden with an amazing landscape right by the sea. The course is designed to challenge and award golfers of all levels.
