In the winter it is possible to sunbath on the beach in the morning followed by skiing in the afternoon.
The capital Sevilla is the fourth largest city in Spain with a heritage rooted in medieval, renaissance and baroque, its culture is also influenced by Arabic leading to its particular personality. As well as various museums and parks, Sevilla is host to various landmarks such as the Cathedral of Seville, the Alcázar, the Torre del Oro and the Plaza de España. Two of the most well known festivals are the Holy Week in Seville which takes place from Palm Sunday until Easter Sunday and the Seville Fair which takes place two weeks later, lasting for six days.

The Sierra Nevada (snowy range) region in Granada is a well known winter destination having the second highest mountain range in Europe providing ideal skiing conditions, The highest peaks of the region being Veleta, Alcazaba and Mulhacén with Mulhacén being the most treacherous for its extreme conditions.
There are twenty-two National Parks in Andalucia varying from those by the coast to those by the mountains with the Doñana National Park in Grazalema being the most well known and is mainly marsh, shallow streams and sand dunes. In 2011, it was claimed that the lost city of Atlantis may have been located in the park but investigations are ongoing.
