Castile and León is the largest autonomous community region in Spain lying towards the north of the country and is split into nine different provinces. There are many medieval villages and castles throughout the region. These castles and Castile's historic cities attract many tourists interested in being captivated by some of Spain's most impressive historic buildings that is sure to captivate all those who see them time and time again just as they have always done.

Segovia is proud of its Aqueduct - a magificent example of Roman architecture, it was constructed from over 20,000 stone blocks that still holds solidly today and is in immaculate condition. And Segovia's Moorish Alcazar dating back to the 12th and 13th centuries is the inspiration to Walt Disney's design for fairytale castles in his own animated works such as Sleeping Beauty and has been replicated in Disney's theme parks. Segovia also has several magnificent romanesque cathedrals and churches, museums and stately homes that will sure to be of interest to visitors.

The city of Salamenca in western Castile that is of a cultural importance to Spain because of its old streets, monuments, the various restaurants about the city and its own culture. Tourists may also use Salamenca as a starting point to travel to the nearby mountains, lakes and villages. Salamenca is also known for its great nightlife which is sure to attract many young tourists

To the north is León which has high mountains covered in snow during the winter making it ideal for skiing and other sports while towards the border of Galicia, León has forest-covered mountains, pleasant countryside and lovely villages. The capital city León is host to many magnificent churches, cathedrals and museums. The diversity of León's geographical nature is also reflected in its cuisine too - specialities include roast meats, stews, chorizos, trout, black sausage and roasted red peppers. León also holds a fiesta the last week of June with processions, bull-fighting, music-concerts, bonfires, fireworks and numerous parties.
