Playa Flamenca is a small and family-friendly resort on the Orihuela Costa, the southern stretch of the Costa Blanca near to Murcia. Best known for its pleasant beaches, Playa Flamenca has much more to offer visitors of all ages, including plenty of good restaurants, lively bars and all the facilities you would need if you are self catering. Some of the most popular destinations in the region are only a short drive away, such as the historic cities of Murcia, Cartagena and Alicante and the older resort of Torrevieja, making it an ideal base for exploring this part of Spain.

The main reason most people visit this part of Spain is to take advantage of the warm and sunny climate and there are plenty of beaches in the Playa Flamenca region to help you work on your tan. Three beaches make up the coastline of Playa Flamenca; the small rocky cove at Cala Penas, which is often quieter than the other two and the Cala Estaca at the other end of the town, which is a wide stretch of sand with toilets, showers and a snack bar. In between these two is the town promenade, which is lively throughout the day and into the night, and Playa Flamenca's main beach, Cala Mosca. This beach has all the usual amenities, plus some private beach bars, where you can hire your own sunbeds and parasols. There are plenty of snack bars, as well as restaurants, along the promenade if you're just looking for a cheap lunchtime snack.

If you or the kids are bored of the beach, Playa Flamenca is in the middle of a stretch of coastline that offers lots of other family entertainment, including a go kart track just outside the town centre. If you prefer to take things a bit slower, you can hire pedal bikes to help you explore the town and the surrounding countryside or hire a boat and enjoy a view of Playa Flamenca from the water. Water babies will love the resort which offers a variety of water sports, such as jet ski hire, scuba diving and even surfing lessons. A little further out of town, in the Mata Torrevieja nature park there is an equestrian centre which runs pony trekking day trips for riders of all abilities. These treks can also be accompanied by other activities, such as fishing or even archery and most of the companies involved will pick you up from your Playa Flamenca villa or apartment.
