The autonomous community Balearic Islands are a group of five Islands off the east coast of Spain in the Mediterranean the main three Islands are Ibiza, Mallorca (Majorca) and Menorca. The smaller, more minor islands are Cabrera and Formentera. The Balearic Islands excellent climate with 300 days of sunshine combined with wonderful beaches and a rich cultural heritage makes them one of the favourite tourist destinations in Spain.

Mallorca is the largest island and attracts some six million visitors a year including a large number of celebrities and royalty known for its stunning natural beauty. Palma is the capital city known for being the commercial and cultural center originating from Roman times and although it does not have a beach of its own, there are several beaches in short travelling distance. The more popular locations of the island are Palma Nova and Magaluf, both infamous for their extreme nightlife activities.

Ibiza is the nearest Island to mainland Spain just 100 kms off the coast and has become the party capital of Europe attracting thousands of younger generation tourists every year but it has another side of traditional Spanish villages away from the main tourist centres. For those wishing a quieter holiday, there are plenty of resorts away from the loud club scenes with several sporting activities to enjoy such as windsurfing, scuba diving and sailing plus there is a great range of shopping, dining and beautiful walks to experience. Formentera is eleven miles away from Ibiza which can be travelled to by ferry. Known for its white beaches, Formentera is much quieter than its neighboring island, however because of Ibiza, tourism has been steadily increasing.

Menorca is the most lush and tranquil of the islands providing the tourist with endless miles of uncrowded beaches. The island is known for being popular with tourists but also for being much quieter and peaceful than its more non-stop party themed neighbours. Because of this, Menorca is much more appropriate towards family friendly wholesome holidays with a variety of different sports, activities and places to relax on offer.
