A mere 15 minutes away is the town of Aosta, which, outside of Rome, is the only place where you will find a significant amount of ancient Roman ruins. Take in the City Gates that date back to the 11th century. You could well be standing in the very place where victorious emperors were felicitated by their subjects as they returned after having conquered hostile armies. Step back in time with a visit to the remains of a triumphal arch, also known as the Arch of Augustus and which dates back to 35 B.C. There is also an 11th century Cathedral in the area that is worth a visit.
Summer extends from July to August and the daytime temperature is about 19 degrees Celsius, while the colder winter months are from November to February with temperatures varying from 4 degrees to -1 degree. The closest airport is Turin and is well connected to the major airports of Europe.
