Le Juchoir (The Roost) is a small but surprisingly spacious house in the little hill village of Cassagnes, just 30 minutes from Perpignan. It is perfect for a couple with one or two children, with a good size bedroom and a shower room on the ground floor, and a lovely light living room / kitchen upstairs, with one entire wall of oak-framed windows, opening onto a terrace with a view of the hills.
We, the owners, remember always having a problem finding places to stay on our holidays. We were generally looking for somewhere for the two of us and our young daughter, but because of the economies of buying and renting property, the majority of places on the market sleep four, six, eight, or more. We always used to think that there must be many like us who prefer to stay in self-catering accommodation, but who are not holidaying with a large group. We hope that Le Juchoir represents an opportunity for such people. We found the site five years ago, through friends of ours who had moved to France, and live in Montalba Le Chateau, just 5 km away. It was a stone barn, built between houses in a quiet street on the edge of Cassagnes, a small but well-kept village where many people live who work in the nearby city of Perpignan, France's 30th city in population. The barn was more or less a roofless ruin, and it has taken those five years to completely rebuild it and convert it into a modern home.
The final stage in the process was furnishing the house, which we have done throughout with new, modern furniture, designed to make the most of the limited space. So you won't find a house full of charming but large, dark antique French furniture, or spare bits and pieces that were lying around waiting for a home. What you will find is a clean, bright, friendly house, with some interesting features, and a lot of style. Somewhere where you can really enjoy the clear light and breath the clean air of this unspoilt corner of France, while being a short drive away from one its most colourful and fashionable cities.

Rental Notes
The difference between our low and high season prices may seem small compared to some other properties. This is simply because our prices include water and electricity consumption, regardless of season, while many properties charge extra for electricity for winter rentals. We think this makes things more complicated for you, and gives a misleading impression of the rental cost during colder months. Our prices also include bed linen, towels, and cleaning after you leave.
The changeover day is flexible, to allow guests not tied to weekend-to-weekend holidays the option of mid-week travel. If your planned dates leave a gap of a few days after the end of a previous booking or before the start of the next one, we may offer a special rate for you to extend your visit to fill the gap.
We are happy to accept payment into our UK bank account, in pounds sterling, or our French account, in Euros. You can make an electronic transfer to either, which is the quickest and easiest way. You can also pay via PayPal, in pounds.
Booking deposit - 30%
Balance to be paid - 6 weeks prior to arrival.
Refundable security deposit - £150GBP
