The "Doll's House" is in the Old Quarter of Villanueva del Trabuco, an area of the village that has been extensively improved, with walled pedestrianised streets and houses with brightly-tiled walls.
The ground floor comprises of a dining-room, small kitchen with cupboards of traditional local design, two small utility rooms and a double bedroom. The original bathroom is at the end of a corridor, but a more modern shower-room has been built upstairs, where there is also a lounge and a bedroom with twin beds. There is a double sofa bed in the lounge.
Both upstairs rooms have balconies with fine views over the village to the mountains.
To the front is a terrace, again with excellent views.
Villanueva del Trabuco is a village of about 5,000 people, in a green valley under the San Jorge and Gorda Sierra, about 700 metres above sea level. A number of local springs feed the little Guadalhorce River, which irrigates the valley.
There is a pleasant town square and a nearby small park, a number of bars, where the game of dominoes is played noisily and competitively, and a good selection of restaurants and local shops.
There is also a weekly street market.
Above the "Barrio de Villares" ( the Old Quarter, ) built on a hillside, is the village swimming pool, which has recently been refitted ( open July and August only.)
There is a major festival in Villanueva del Trabuco in September, with others in February and August.
The people are extremely friendly and the pace of life generally slow. However, there is one street with several disco bars, so teenagers can also be accommodated !
The village is only forty five minutes drive from Málaga and the Costa del Sol.
The motorway system, only four kilometres from the village, also links to Granada ( 60 kilmetres, ) where the Alhambra Palace has to be visted, to Córdoba ( 100 kms,) considered by many to be an even finer city, with its Mezquita and Alcazar Palace, and to Sevilla ( 180 kms ) and to Jaén.
Nearer to Villanueva del Trabuco is Archidona ( 10 kms ) which has an impressive Octagonal Plaza, and Antequera ( 25 kms, ) "the city of art," a well-preserved city with roman remains, fine churches and a Moorish castle.
The scenery throughout the area is stunning, with mountain ranges, green valleys and also attractive lakes at Vinuela and at Fuente de Piedra, a well-known bird-watching area.
