This authentic restored village house in historic Corfinio sleeps up to 4 people comfortably with two twin bedrooms (room for a further single bed if required).Central heating and an open fireplace with a proper couch for cosy nights in Winter. There is a spacious sunny balcony with mountain views, ideal for dining out. The bathroom recently modernised has a walk in shower enclosure.The house is situated in the Majella National Park in Abruzzo with bears, wolves and eagles. Corfinio itself boasts having once been the Capital of Italy. It is surrounded by spectacular hills with vineyards and olive groves.There are several interesting historic sites and a 12th century church in the village. It is an ideal base for relaxing,walking,cycling or skiing, Roccaraso Ski Resort is 40 minutes drive away as are the beaches. There are many other villages close by to explore all within a 10 minutes drive.
The house is at the start of the village, if you hire a car it has parking at the entrance of the house. No steep hills to climb! The Piazza is a few minutes stroll from the house with bars, two restaurants, a bank, post office, chemist and a few shops.There is a swimming pool with sunloungers, bar and restaurant 20 minutes walk from the house.
The area is popular with people looking for a very different type of holiday away from crowded beaches and cities - no English Breakfasts here!! What you will find are friendly locals and a way of life long disappeared from other more commercialised countries. You will be asked to taste the local wine and sample locally produced cheeses and fruit. Rome is one and a half hours away by car or bus. Sulmona "The City of Art" is a 10 minutes drive/bus ride as is Pratola Peligna.Raino is a 15 minute straight walk from the house with many quaint shops and a Sunday morning market. All the local villages have Market days and all have Festas celebrating either their locally produced food or Montepulciano wine. A Pickup Service is available from Pescara Airport which is 40 minutes drive away if you do not want to drive. Ryan Air flys from Stansted daily to Pescara (40 minutes from the house).There are also flights into Rome (Ciampino)from many regional airports.
