In one week you can explore Athens, Delphi, Mycenae, Epidavos, Sounion, Ramnous, Marathon and areas of Attica and the Peloponnese plus relax and swim at one of Greece’s best beaches, Schinias.
We are located at Schinias, the back door to Athens and its airport. Our modern bus system will take you directly downtown where you can explore and enjoy Athens. After a day of touring antiquity and museums return to the peace and tranquility of Schinias and relax in the sea or beside our pool.
A seashore villa with private pool overlooking the Aegean Sea. Located at Sxinias Marathon in the vicinity of Athens and its airport. Enjoy all that Athens has to offer then relax inside a gated, rural, community right on the sea less than 40 kilometers from the Acropolis. Step out the villa’s back gate and walk 30 meters into the sea. The Sxinias Beach and its mountain coastline are among Greece’s best beaches and swimming sites with umbrella pine forest, sandy shores, and resorts offering wind surfing and other water sports.
The primary rental configuration is the main two floors of the house; the bedroom level and the living level for groups up to eight people. All rooms have air conditioning and central heat. The bedroom level has four bedrooms (two that have a private bathroom for each bedroom and two bedrooms that share one bathroom). The two bedrooms with private bathrooms have queen size beds, the third bedroom has a double bed, and the fourth bedroom has two single beds. Three of the four bedrooms have ocean views and balconies that over look the sea and swimming pool. The fourth bedroom has ground level access to a garden and a terrace with a sea view. The bedroom level has a laundry room with a clothes washer and dryer.
The living level has an elevated open entrance foyer, a dining room separated from the living room by a large two story open atrium, a large living room with fireplace and with windows and large glass doors providing commanding views of the sea, islands, and swimming pool. The modern kitchen with breakfast nook has ocean views and is fully equipped with built-ins including a BBQ grill. A large covered balcony overlooks the pool and is easily accessible from the kitchen and living room; making outdoor dining and entertainment simple and easy. An elevator and watercloset are just off the entrance foyer.
The villa also has a walk-out basement appartment and penthouse suiet that are reserved for the owners. The penthouse suiet is not used during a vacation rental.
SXINIAS SCHINIAS
SXINIAS Beach is ranked within the top 10 tourist attractions in the Athens area by Yahoo Travel. Their description is as follows: "The east coast of the Attica Peninsula can be reached within less than an hour from central Athens. This area is the site of Schinias Beach, one of the most beautiful bathing spots of Greece located near Marathon.
The major draw of Schinias is the picture-perfect coastal pine forest that reaches the water's edge as well as the fine sand of the beach. A number of tavernas cater to the needs of day trippers from Athens. Hotels can also be found a few kilometres from Schinias.
The bus to Schinias leaves from Mavromateon Street at the Pedion Areos Park (the nearest metro station is Victoria). "
Sxinias, Schinias; No matter the language or how you spell it, Sxinias is a beautiful suburban area of Athens bordering the Marathon Plains; the site of the Battle of Marathon and the birthplace of Marathon Run. Sxinias is an European Union Environmental Park with three distinctively types of terrain. The inland Sxinias plain is wetlands and a stop over for migratory fowl during the winter. Western Sxinias is a large crescent beach of fine sand with an umbrella pine forest providing shade down to the water’s edge. Many water related resorts and restaurants are located within the forest providing tasty foods, refreshing drinks, and a variety of water sports. The gentle slope of the sandy beach is perfect for small kids and non-swimmers alike, as the crystal clear waters remain waist deep hundreds of meters out to sea. The eastern area of Sxinias is mountainous and separated from the western part by a distinctive narrow peninsula dashing out to sea. The mountainside is the planned gated community of Sxinias and is dotted with summer vacation villas separated by large open green areas. This part of Sxinias is characterized by a rocky seashore with deep water. The peninsula and mountainside seashore are protected from development but access for spectacular swimming, snorkeling, and diving is allowed.
Some hearty souls can make the journey on foot from Sxinias to downtown Athens in about 2 1/2 hours but most of us ordinary folk leave that to the Marathon Runners and use either our car or the local bus system which takes slightly less than an hour. We recommend using the local bus from Sxinias to down town Athens leaving the driving and parking to others. Athens has an excellent mass transit system for you to use to explore the acropolis, museums, market places, restaurants, and other attractions. Even though mass transit is available, a car is necessary as the bus stop, super markets, etc. are too far away from our house for walking
SWIM AND RELAX
Enjoy all that Athens has to offer then relax in our home located on the sea in a rural resort setting with some of the best beaches in Greece. Three aquatic adventures await your pleasure. The Aegean Sea is only 30 meters from the villa. Step out our back door for delightful swims, snorkelling, or diving off the rocky coast in the crystal clear waters of the Aegean Sea. Wade and swim at nearby Sxinias Beach with its umbrella pine forest, sandy shores, and resorts that offer wind surfing and other water sports. Lazy; just vegetate with a cool mint julep around our large fresh water pool and soak up the lovely view and warm sun. I'll furnish the mint for you.
